Saint Martin-in-the-Fields Church

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit London, The Royal Tour
Opposite Trafalgar Square is this pretty church in a rather atypical style. Saint Martin-in the Fields was built in 1726, in the Rococo style, and its name refers to the fields around which it was built. It was formally not part of the city. Americans used it as a model for the construction of some of their religious buildings. Saint Martin Church remains as charming as ever and blends in brilliantly with the decor of Trafalgar Square!
