This is the heart of the city’s historic centre! Here, you’ll find some of London’s oldest buildings, such as St Paul’s Cathedral, as well as some of its most recent, creating a rather surprising contrast! The City of London is also the heart of the financial district, where you can find the Bank of England, the London Stock Exchange and some of the city’s most iconic buildings such as Sky Garden, Gherkin and Lloyd’s Building. Although not very residential, the district is the workplace for the 300,000 or so workers who come to Europe’s largest financial centre every day. It’s a fast-growing neighbourhood, despite being oldest in the city, indeed the Breton people settled here in Roman times. You’ll have to lift your eyes more than once to admire all the buildings around here!
