Southwark Cathedral

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit London, The City
Southwark Cathedral is the oldest Gothic church in London, dating back to 1220. It pays tribute to the famous playwright William Shakespeare, dedicating a memorial and stained glass window to him. Some of his fellow actors are even buried in this cathedral! John Harvard, the founder of the prestigious Harvard University in the United States, was baptised in this cathedral! With all that, this lovely monument is undoubtedly part of the city’s history.
