Saint-Alban church Tower

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit London, The City
What on earth is this old tower that rises right in the centre of the City of London? This tower nestled in the heart of London’s offices is none other than the steeple of an ancient church! A church which, as you can see, no longer exists, having been totally destroyed during World War II, following Nazi bombings. It was completely destroyed except for its bell tower, which remained intact. It was obvious that it should be preserved, especially as the church had been restored by Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London. This is why this rather unique bell tower stands amongst the modern buildings of the English capital!
