Regent’s Park

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit London, From Camden Town to Regent’s Park
You’re stepping into one of the capital’s largest royal parks! A former hunting ground for England’s most famous personalities, Regent’s Park was laid out on the orders of King George IV by the famous architect John Nash, who contributed to the design of many London buildings, including Buckingham Palace. Initially, a palace was to be built next to the park, but the plans were abandoned as they were too ambitious. In 1854, work began on Regent’s Park, giving shape to this great London park of 166 hectares. It is the capital’s latest park and certainly the one that offers the most varied activities. For sports fans, there are a number of sports grounds, including tennis courts, football pitches, rugby pitches, hockey pitches and cricket pitches, making it London’s largest outdoor sports facility! For those who enjoy live entertainment, an open-air theatre regularly puts on performances in an exceptional setting. And for those who just like to stroll, Regent’s Park offers some great walks by its lake or in the magnificent rose garden to the south of the park. It’s also a great place for families who come to play on the large green lawns and watch animals at Regent’s Park Zoo. As you can see, this park has it all! No wonder it’s one of London’s most popular parks!
