Liverpool Sign

You are in the heart of Liverpool, in front of Chavasse Park and its grand staircase, at the center of the popular shopping area of Liverpool One. The large sign you see, in Hollywood-style letters, is quite recent. It was commissioned in 2021 by the shopping center and Culture Liverpool after the city broke all records in tourism, recording a 20% increase over the national average! With travel restrictions imposed by Covid, Brits realized that Liverpool had a lot to offer, from music, culture, architecture to football. Liverpudlians felt it was necessary to mark the occasion to symbolize the growing popularity of their city. Local artist Liz Harry designed this work, measuring over 14 meters long, with the idea that the sign would be transformed throughout the year by different artists.
