Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Liverpool, The world in one city
Bold Street is a must-visit street when you come to Liverpool. It’s everything we love! A bohemian atmosphere, real musicians on every corner, a succession of restaurants to make Instagrammers swoon, design and vintage boutiques, record shops and a genuine good vibe. This is Concert Square, the heart of the city’s nightlife, with hundreds of nightclubs and the city’s best bars, renowned throughout the north-west of England. It is also a favourite spot for football fans, who gather here to celebrate their clubs’ victories. Don’t miss the beautiful Lyceum Post Office at the end of the street, built in 1802 as a press room. It was also Liverpool’s first library. For the record, because it’s funny, the area you’re in is called Rope’s Walk. This neighborhood was named for the ropemaking craft of the sailboats that dominated the region until the 19th century. The ropes were made in the fields, but the ropemakers bought or leased long strips of land to lay out their ropes in their full length during production. And acquiring these narrow strips, one by one at different times, led to the creation of long, narrow streets with few intersections. So, now you know the backstory!
