Text version

Welcome to one of England’s most captivating cities! Second only to London in economic prominence, Liverpool is a bustling, vibrant city with a global outlook, thanks to its port, which has bestowed upon it a prominent position on the world stage since the 19th century. Back then, 40% of international trade passed through Liverpool. Today, it still bears the unmistakable marks of its maritime glory days—historic docks, a heritage reflecting past opulence, and a lively multicultural vibe. In Liverpool, you’ll find Europe’s oldest Chinese community and one of the oldest African communities in the country. This Atlantic-facing openness also brought a fresh breeze from the United States, with rock ‘n’ roll and African-American blues landing in Liverpool before anywhere else, inspiring the local youth—particularly four lads who would leave an indelible mark on their city and the world forever. Liverpool loves music, and music loves Liverpool. The city is also a major university hub, and I’m sure I don’t need to tell you about its famous football club! Named European Capital of Culture in 2008, Liverpool is one of those well-kept secrets that turn into delightful surprises and unforgettable memories! So, join us for a few miles as we trace the history of this legendary city, exploring its historic centre and alternative neighbourhoods to discover why Liverpool has become such an essential tourist destination.

Liverpool is located in the west of England on the coast of the Irish Sea. This gives it an oceanic climate with rather cold and humid winters, mild summers, and the possibility of rain persists throughout the year. So, the best time to visit Liverpool is in the summer, from mid-May to mid-September. It’s not quite like your usual summer, though, with seasonal highs hovering around 20°C. A sweater in the evening and an umbrella are still advisable!
