The Golden Lion square

This naming tradition has become somewhat of an inside joke in French culture, as ‘Lion d’or,’ meaning the golden lion, sounds identical to ‘au lit on dort,’ which translates to ‘in bed we sleep.’ This charming square is a playful nod to this linguistic coincidence. It’s the the ideal place to admire the beautiful architecture typical of Lille.
