Town Hall

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit La Rochelle, The White City
This is the oldest mansion in France. This Renaissance masterpiece, ravaged by fire in 2013, has been restored in recent years to save the numerous treasures hidden in the mansion, considered to be one of the most beautiful town halls in France. Built in Renaissance and flamboyant Gothic styles, it has housed La Rochelle’s town hall for many years. Its walls are reminiscent of those of a fortified castle, with its parapet walk and belfry tower. Feel free to enter the courtyard, which is open to the public and features a superb Italian-style façade adorned with statues representing the four cardinal virtues of Prudence, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance.
