Saint-Barthelemy bell tower

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit La Rochelle, The White City
The bell tower you see there, in the middle of the houses is the Saint-Barthélemy bell tower! It was part of the church bearing the same name, which once stood where Saint-Louis Cathedral used to be, and which was destroyed in 1568 during the Wars of Religion. The only thing that survived the demolition of the church was its bell tower. Nowadays, it continues to serve as the bell tower for Saint-Louis Cathedral, which is located just behind it.
