Kamppi Centre

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Helsinki, A Scandinavian getaway
Welcome to the Kamppi district—one of Helsinki’s most central and vibrant neighbourhoods, brought to life by the large shopping centre in front of you. This is the biggest shopping mall in the city centre, a true paradise for anyone looking to bring home souvenirs! You’ll also find a wide range of dining options inside, including some of the city’s top restaurants. Now one of the busiest parts of Helsinki, Kamppi looked very different in the 19th century. Back then, it was a vast military area with several barracks designed by architect Carl Ludwig Engel. Later on, the space was turned into a bustling open-air market. The shopping centre you see today was completed in 2006 and now houses fashion stores, shoe shops, accessory boutiques, home décor outlets, and toy shops—perfect for a bit of shopping before the end of your visit!
