Napoleon Museum

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Havana, El Vedado: Havana’s timeless elegance
Even though we’re in Havana, this spot is dedicated to the legendary Napoleon Bonaparte. The museum before you was founded in 1961, by two Cuban art and history enthusiasts: Julio Lobo, a wealthy sugar trader, and Orestes Ferrara, a politician and writer. They amassed an impressive collection of nearly 8,000 items retracing the French statesman’s life, valued at 8 million dollars back in 1986. Most of the pieces were acquired at auctions and span the periods of the French Revolution to the Second Empire, but neither the building nor the location has any historic link to Napoleon! The house, inspired by 16th-century Florentine Renaissance palaces, was actually the former home of Orestes Ferrara. Today, it showcases a rich display of artistic and historical treasures, and offers a sweeping view over the city – all just an entry ticket away!
