Russian Orthodox Church

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Geneva, The Little Big Capital
And here’s one of Geneva’s most unique architectural landmarks: the Russian Orthodox Church. After the Revolution of 1846, Geneva tore down its fortifications and opened itself to greater religious freedom.
This led to the construction of new places of worship for a variety of faiths, including the Catholic church of Notre-Dame, the Anglican church, the synagogue, and this magnificent Russian church. Completed in 1866, it was built for the city’s Orthodox community and quickly became a symbol of Geneva’s cultural diversity. With its nine golden onion-shaped domes shining brightly above the rooftops, it’s impossible to miss!
If it’s open during your visit, you can step inside for just a few euros and admire its richly decorated interior—an unexpected and dazzling gem in the heart of Geneva.
