City Hall

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Geneva, The Little Big Capital
City Hall is the seat of government for the Canton of Geneva and a true architectural gem dating back to the 15th century. Construction began in 1405, and over time it was expanded and transformed into the impressive building you see today.
As the political heart of the city, it has hosted key moments in history—most notably the signing of the first Geneva Convention in 1864, which laid the foundation for the International Red Cross. One of its most striking features is the monumental stone ramp in the inner courtyard leading to the upper floors.
Back in the day, it was even possible to ride a horse all the way up the ramp!
