Strozzi Palace

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Florence, A world of art
The palace on your right was built in the 15th century and is a fine example of Renaissance architecture — typical of private residences from that era. Its construction was ordered by the banker Filippo Strozzi, who wanted an elegant home reflecting his power as a Florentine nobleman. More than 15 buildings were destroyed to make way for this impressive palace! You can go into the palace’s courtyard to get a closer look at its classic 15th century architecture. What’s more, the building is actually bigger than it looks, home to the National Institute of the Renaissance and a large exhibition hall.
