You are now on Agiou Mina Street, one of the most scenic walks in Fira. This narrow lane winds along the cliffside, offering breathtaking views of the caldera at every turn. Between whitewashed façades and flower-filled terraces, sudden openings reveal the Aegean and the volcanic islets shimmering in the distance. It’s the perfect spot for a slow stroll, to snap photos, or simply to sit on a bench and take in the grandeur of the landscape.
Along the way, you’ll come across the Church of Saint Minas, easy to recognize with its white dome and three-bell tower. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it is one of Fira’s oldest churches and is still held in deep reverence by the locals. Dedicated to Saint Minas, the town’s protector, it opens its doors on November 11 for the annual feast day, when its icons and carved wooden altarpiece are revealed. A
giou Mina Street is more than just a passage—it’s an invitation to pause and reflect, suspended between spirituality and stunning views. Keep walking straight ahead, and the lane will lead you to the cable car and some of Fira’s other major landmarks.
