St Blaise’s Church

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Dubrovnik, The pearl of the Adriatic
St Blaise’s Church is one of Dubrovnik’s most important landmarks. Tucked a little out of sight, it’s dedicated to the city’s patron saint. This baroque gem was built in the 14th century, though it looked quite different then…. The original structure was destroyed by an earthquake in 1667 and suffered a fire forty years later. A Venetian architect rebuilt the church in 1715, inspired by the Church of San Maurizio in his Italian hometown. The steps are a popular resting spot, but step inside to see the church’s true beauty. You’ll find a religious icon of Saint Blaise, and a model of Dubrovnik, showing the city as it was before the earthquake changed it forever.
