Buže Gate

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Dubrovnik, The pearl of the Adriatic
To explore Dubrovnik’s famous city walls, you’ve got three main entrances to choose from. Whilst Pile and Ploče usually get the most attention, Buže Gate is just as impressive as the rest, and the youngest of the three! In the early 20th century, the Austro-Hungarian army broke through the wall and created what we now know as Buže Gate. You heard that right… Dubrovnik was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire from 1815 until its fall in 1918. Today, the gate leads straight into the maze of Old Town, lined with many spots to try out the local cuisine! Sounds tempting, but get ready to climb a seemingly endless number of stairs…
