Pasteur Quay

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Dole, The birthplace of Louis Pasteur
You’re now walking along the canal on Pasteur Quay, named after the famous Louis Pasteur, who developed the rabies vaccine and was born not far from here. This is one of Dole’s most picturesque spots, perfect for a leisurely stroll. You’ll find plenty of cozy cafes and restaurants lining the waterfront. Back in the day, this street was home to tanners, who needed to be close to the water to do their work. And let’s just say it wasn’t the most pleasant of neighborhoods, because of the all odors coming from the tanneries. It’s been refurbished since then, but you can still see some remnants of these old buildings to your right, hinting at the city’s industrial past. You’ll also see a bust of Pasteur, carved in stone. In any case, one thing’s for sure: the Pasteur Quay offers plenty of great places to grab a drink, in a historic setting that’s become a city favorite.
