Timber-framed house

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Dijon, Capital of Burgundy
This is a house that will undoubtedly take you back in time. As you’ve already noticed, there are plenty of half-timbered houses here in Dijon, bearing witness to its rich medieval past. Dijon is one of the French towns that have managed to maintain this historic heritage. Most of these half-timbered houses date back to the 15th century. In the past, houses were built from wood, because it was a material that was easy to find and handle. So you can imagine that in those days, all houses were like that! They were gradually replaced by stone houses, which are more resistant to time, floods and, of course, fire. But Burgundy still boasts many timber-framed houses, 31 of which have even been classified as Historic Monuments.
