Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Dijon, Capital of Burgundy
The two buildings opposite you, on your left, date back to the 17th century. Built for the Bouhier de Savigny family, this private mansion was home to Jean Bouhier de Savigny, a great 18th-century scholar who was president of the Burgundy Parliament for a while. Fun fact, he was also a book lover, indeed, he had no fewer than 35,000 books in his library, which is housed in this mansion that has stood the test of time! Elected to the French Academy in 1727, he devoted the last 20 years of his life to the writing of historical and literary works, which led aristocrats throughout France to regard him as a scholar. His brother, Claude Bouhier de Lantenay, also played a major role in the town’s history, becoming the second bishop of Dijon in 1744. A historic building that has housed some of the greatest aristocrats Dijon has ever known, this town house is an undeniable part of the city’s heritage!
