Millière mansion

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Dijon, Capital of Burgundy
Built more than 500 years ago, this house is an essential part of the town’s history. Its Gothic architecture dates back to the end of the Middle Ages, precisely to the 15th century! It is therefore one of the oldest houses in the town. It takes its name from its founder, Guillaume Millière, who together with his wife set up a drapery business, which operated for many years. Their initials are carved into the stone and protected by a lion. What could be more symbolic? Not without effort, Millière mansion has been preserved over the centuries, and today reveals its historic timber-framed walls just a stone’s throw from the cathedral. It houses a tearoom, a restaurant dedicated to Dijon specialities, and a shop where you can buy local produce. It was even the setting for the famous 1989 adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac! Now, if you made a wish whilst stroking the famous Dijon owl next door, don’t look at the top of this building, as it is here that lays the sculpted black cat,. It is said that if you look at it after making a wish with the owl, it will cancel it out. … So, will you let yourself be tempted by a cup of tea in one of Dijon’s oldest houses? It is of course listed as a Historic Monument.
