Carmélites Chapel

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Dijon, Capital of Burgundy
The pretty building in front of you is the Chapelle des Carmélites. Formerly a Carmelite convent in the 17th century, it was carved out of blonde and pink stone in 1642. All that remains of this period is the Louis XIII-style facade, listed as a Historic Monument. Like many other places of worship, the convent lost its religious function after the Revolution and was used as a military prison for several years.
