The Marina
This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Deauville, Seaside Glamour and Timeless Stories
You’re now standing at the Morny Basin, right in the heart of Deauville’s marina. As early as the nineteenth century, this basin welcomed the sailing boats of the first holidaymakers who had arrived by train from Paris to enjoy the sea.
Today, along with the Yacht Basin and the larger Port-Deauville built in the 1970s, the harbor can host nearly a thousand boats. It’s a constant spectacle of masts, sails, and shimmering reflections on the water. Further along, Port-Deauville has the look of a little Norman Venice, with buildings set right on the edge of the pontoons.
The marina comes alive with the regattas of the Deauville Yacht Club, ferry crossings to Trouville, and leisurely strolls along the quays. And more recently, Deauville’s ports have proudly earned the Blue Flag, a mark of environmental quality. So take a moment to enjoy the scene: it’s one of the liveliest sides of the city.
