Kongens Nytorv

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Copenhagen, A Scandinavian jewel
This is one of the main squares in the city. Kongens Nytorv is an important connection between the most touristic landmarks and monuments, so it would be a crime to avoid this place when visiting Copenhagen! On your left, you’ll find two important buildings: the Charlottenborg Palace, an ancient royal mansion (yes, another one) recognisable by its dark facade; and the Royal Danish Theatre with its imposing 19th century facade. The square is quite popular thanks to these two, but also because this is where the canal ends since the 17th century. In the middle of the square, you’ll find a statue of Christian V made in 1688, making it the oldest equestrian sculpture in all Scandinavia! It was him who had the idea of building this square, inspired by Place Vendôme in Paris. With all these buildings, it’s definitely one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful squares!
