Dantes Plads

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Copenhagen, A Scandinavian jewel
Strange statue, isn’t it? In the middle of Dantes Plads, this sculpture means a lot to locals here. Made in 2021 by Danish sculptor Jens Galschiot, it was to oppose a project aiming to transform this square into a parking. He called it “Fuck Q-Park”, in reference to the Dutch parking company. There’s no clearer message than this! Both residents and local companies supported the artist, all refusing to see this place go. Galschiot is mostly famous for his controversial messages, often considered too political or brutal, especially on subjects such as human rights or the planet’s future. We’re off to our next stop! Over there, you’ll learn where the name “Dantes Plads” comes from.
