BP Bridge

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Chicago, Windy City a Michigan Beauty
You now find yourself on the BP Pedestrian Bridge. If it is indeed a simple pedestrian bridge, the name BP does serve a double purpose here, as the British Petroleum company BP, donated 5 million dollars for its construction. So you are crossing a stylish pedestrian bridge, and most importantly one with an incredible view! Frank Gehry, the architect of the Pritzker Pavilion designed this unique and astonishing piece of engineering. This silver snake spanning from Millenium Park to Columbus Drive is made of a hollow stainless steel exoskeleton that sparkles with sunlight. The bridge offers breathtaking views over Chicago’s rooftops, the skyscrapers in the historic center as well as over Lake Michigan. It is the ideal spot to photograph the city’s most iconic landmarks. The only downside is that the bridge must be closed in winter, as there is no way to clear the snow without obstructing traffic on Columbus Drive.
