House of Comics

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Brussels, The Beating Heart of Europe
You’re passing by the House of Comics. If you’re a fan, head to the Comics Art Museum, on Rue des Sables. It’s housed in a splendid shop built by Victor Horta, inaugurated in 1906. At the same time, comic books had just appeared. A unique form of art, they soon became very popular in Belgium. You might know some of these comic book stars: Tintin, Lucky Luke, The Smurfs, Spirou — and maybe even Le Chat or Achille Talon. Plot twist: they’re all Belgian!
