Saint-Louis Church

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Brest, Capital of the Oceans
Located just a stone’s throw from the market, Saint-Louis is France’s largest post-war church. The original church was completely destroyed by bombings, and so the city had to build a new one on that very spot, starting in 1955. Its design is rather modern, inspired by 20th-century Swiss churches. Built of concrete and Logonna stone from the Roz quarry, some 25 km from Brest, it is quite impressive in size, measuring almost 100 meters long! The interior features several works of modern art, in keeping with the building’s overall style.
