Dajot Promenade and US Naval Monument

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Brest, Capital of the Oceans
The Cours Dajot is a lovely promenade overlooking the Brest bay and port. It was laid out in 1800 to plans by Louis-Lazare Dajot, Director of Brittany’s fortifications. It’s a favorite with Brest locals and visitors alike, and makes for a pleasant stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the city center, rising 30 meters above the port where the city walls once stood. At the center of the Dajot Promenade, you’ll find the Naval Monument, also known as the Pink Tower, which commemorates the American naval forces who fought alongside the French in World War I. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the port and ocean!
