This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Bourges, To brave hearts, nothing is impossible

This private mansion was built in the 15th century to serve as Town Hall, just after the Great Fire of Bourges that ravaged the city in 1487. It rests on the remains of the Gallo-Roman ramparts, and its fine, elegant architecture is reminiscent of the nearby Jacques Coeur Palace. Be sure to look for the beautifully carved spiral staircase that once led to the upper floors of the building. Over time, this edifice, located right at the heart of the city, was expanded and remodeled to serve as City Hall until the 17th century, when it was bought by the Jesuits. Since 1987, it has been home to the Estève Museum, showcasing the works of the painter Maurice Estève, known for his many abstract and often colorful paintings.
