Martin Luther King walk

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Bordeaux, The Sleeping Beauty
Following a request from the US consulate and a proposal from Alain Juppé, the city decided to pay tribute to Martin Luther King, an Afro-American non-violent civil right advocate who was assassinated in Memphis on 4 April 1968. His famous “I have a Dream” speech will live forever in our collective memory, and he was the youngest person ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. The city of Bordeaux therefore named this promenade along the quays after him to commemorate his fight for equality between men.
