Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Bordeaux, The Sleeping Beauty
As you get to the end of Montesquieu street, you’ll come across one of the most beautiful cinemas you’ve ever seen! It was originally a strange theatre, built in 1801 on a very small square, but with a capacity for 1600 spectators! It was designed by architect Dufart, who collaborated with Victor Louis on the Grand Theatre. For more than 50 years, the theatre hosted a wide variety of plays. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed it in 1855. Rebuilt in 1893 it was later modernised to include the first ever cinematograph! Today, if you wish to watch a movie in an 18th-century setting with a magnificent painted ceiling above your head, this is the place to be!Anyway, don’t hesitate to enter and admire the magnificent staircase leading upstairs, before continuing your visit.
