Viewpoint over the Old Port

You’re now standing in front of one of Bastia’s most iconic views, the kind you see on postcards. Boats gently bobbing in the foreground, rows of colourful old houses behind them, and the mountains rising up in the distance. This is the Quai du Premier Bataillon de Choc, and it’s the perfect spot to snap that classic Bastia photo.

Just across the port, you’ll see the Terra Nova district, where the Genoese first settled in the 14th century. That’s where the Citadel stands, and we’ll be heading there later. To your right, above the rooftops, the lower mountain slopes begin, reminding you how close nature is here.

Bastia offers hiking trails and stunning viewpoints just minutes from the city centre. You’ll also find a great selection of bars and restaurants along the Old Port, perfect for a drink or a bite to eat while soaking up the atmosphere. So go ahead, take a break, snap a photo, and enjoy the view.
