Wat Mahan

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Bangkok, A spiritual reawakening and more…
Temples of all shapes and sizes are dotted all around Asia, each with their own distinct style. In front of you, stands the beautiful Wat Mahan, or “the great water dwelling” in English. King Rama III commissioned and funded its construction in 1850, with support from his successor, King Rama IV. This religious site was also home to Thailand’s first state school, which opened in 1884, when one of Thailand’s main national goals was to make education more accessible. The kingdom encouraged temples to set up schools and educate the masses. Beautiful both inside and out, Wat Mahan has been a national historic site since 1949.
