Views of the city

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Avignon, On y danse, on y danse !
Check out this view! Beautiful, right? The rooftops of the City of Popes and neighboring villages stretch right before you, mere steps from the Rhône River. In the distance, to your left, you can see the world-famous Mont Ventoux, the highest peak in the Vaucluse region. You can easily recognize it by its somewhat whitish summit. Mind you, that’s not snow – it’s the natural color of the limestone it’s made of. Towering at an impressive 1910 meters, it’s Provence’s crown jewel. No wonder it’s nicknamed “Giant of Provence”, or “Bald Mountain”! It’s a true haven for hikers and mountain bikers, or those up for a scenic drive with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside. In winter, if there’s enough snow, there’s even a few skiing and snowshoeing trails. So if you’re staying in the area for a while, don’t miss out on a day trip to Mont Ventoux to discover its breathtaking natural beauty. You won’t regret it!
