Auckland Town Hall

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Auckland, The City of Sails
Auckland’s Town Hall is an example of Edwardian architecture, and stands proudly along Aotea Square. Inaugurated in 1911, it was one of the city’s most elegant buildings at the time. As a town hall, it served as Auckland’s first administrative headquarters, but also functioned as the city’s first concert hall, with a theater that can accommodate up to 1,673 people. Its immense and powerful organ further highlights its grandeur. Restored in the 1990s, it is now a treasured part of the city’s historical and cultural heritage. Not only is it one of Auckland’s most beautiful monuments, but it also has many modern facilities inside.
