The Nomad

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Antibes, Let’s head to the French Riviera
This monumental sculpture, standing around 10 meters tall, was created by Catalan artist Jaume Plensa. It depicts a man sitting and gazing out at the sea, made entirely of white steel letters. Known as The Nomad, it’s one of the city’s most unique and intriguing landmarks. Originally displayed in 2007 as part of a temporary exhibition, it was purchased by the city in 2010 and installed here permanently, allowing both locals and visitors to admire it right in the heart of Antibes’ urban landscape. Like many of Plensa’s works, The Nomad explores the connection between language and the human body, symbolizing the ever-changing nature of human communication. Surprising and striking, it brightens the esplanade with its presence and has become a true work of art—and a beloved symbol of Antibes.
