Gravette Beach

Look to your right for a great view of Gravette Beach, located right in the heart of Antibes. It’s ideally placed for a quick swim after a day of sightseeing, though it tends to get crowded due to it’s popularity with both tourists and locals. It’s easy to see why, the spot is lovely and tucked behind the ramparts with a beautiful view of Cap d’Antibes, the peninsula you can see in the distance. Covered in thousands of Aleppo pines, this stretch of land began to develop in the 19th century. Drawn by its location and the nearby Cannes Film Festival, many celebrities and wealthy visitors built luxurious summer villas on the peninsula. In 1882, the seaside resort of Juan-les-Pins was created on the other side of the cape. This district of Antibes became especially popular in the 1920s, thanks to its long sandy beaches, casino, and grand seaside hotels. If you’re staying nearby, I definitely recommend spending time on the wide beaches of Juan-les-Pins or hiking the trails around Cap d’Antibes—especially the coastal path known as the Sentier du Littoral. It’ll take you through some of the most stunning scenery on the French Riviera, with hidden coves, charming ports, and gorgeous beaches along the way.
