Saint-Laud street

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Angers, The Green City
Saint-Laud is one of the students’ favourite streets, and for good reason: it is lined with bars and restaurants of all kinds! Whether you want a beer on the terrace, a punch in front of a rock concert or a cocktail in a nightclub, there’s plenty to satisfy the most festive of you. The street is also one of the oldest in Angers, dating back to the Middle Ages when it was known as Saint Nor Street. In the 16th century, it was renamed Saint Laud Street, then Centrale Street for a short period during the French Revolution. It is lined with shops on both sides, and you’ll be able to spot some remarkably well-preserved timber-framed houses. The very first café in Angers opened here in the 16th century, and it was home to a number of printers in the 19th century. As you can see, it has been a lively place through the ages, and still is today, by night and day!
