Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Amsterdam, Along the canals
Attention all art and painting enthusiasts, welcome to Rembrandt Square! Does the name ring a bell? That is because Rembrandt is one of the greatest painters of all times, especially from the Baroque movement. Among the 400 paintings he signed, some of his most famous include The Night Watch, The Return of the Prodigal Son, and The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp. He relentlessly dedicated himself in excelling the chiaroscuro technique, a method found in many of his paintings. Therefore, he has a well-deserving place among the greatest Dutch painters, marking art history forever. Having spent most of his life in Amsterdam, the city honors Rembrandt by naming the square after him. At its center, his statue stands tall above a group of soldiers, representing the characters he created in The Night Watch. However, you can also find Rembrandt’s presence in the city’s bars and hotels who take his name, as well as the famous Rembrandt House Museum, where he once lived.
