View over the harbor

From the citadel pier, you’re face to face with the horizon. It’s the ideal place to capture a shot of the old port. Located in the Gulf of Ajaccio, the port consists of 3 basins, separated by a cruise mole. There’s the Tino Rossi port, where you are now, the Charles Ornano port on the other side, and the Capucins basin, dedicated to merchant boats, in the center. Behind you, on the edge of the citadel, you can see the 13-metre-high red and white lighthouse, built in 1851. If you go all the way to the lighthouse, you can access the ramparts from the lighthouse, and once again enjoy a beautiful view over the sea and the harbor on the one hand, and the citadel on the other.
