This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Granada, Capital of the Nasrid Kingdom
Turn around for a moment to admire the Moorish façade of this small church in Granada, located here on Plaza Nueva. Built in the early 16th century on the site of a former mosque, just like many of the churches in Granada, it showcases a beautiful Mudejar style, making it one of the most stunning churches in the city.
Its charm is even more enhanced by the colourful houses surrounding the square, just a few steps from the Darro River. Plaza Nueva is also the oldest square in Granada.
In the past, it was used for bullfights and local celebrations, serving as a central gathering place for the people of the city. You’ll also notice the grand Renaissance façade of the Royal Chancellery, built in 1530 under Charles V.
Today, it houses the High Court of Justice of Andalusia. Feel free to stroll around the square before continuing your visit, it’s one of the most vibrant spots in Granada!
