Cité du Vin in Bordeaux: tickets, prices, opening hours, everything you need to know!

La cité du vin de Bordeaux is a place dedicated to the history of wine, from its discovery to the imprint it has left on many civilisations throughout the world and over time. It also looks at the history and symbolism of this divine nectar, which is an integral part of France’s cultural heritage. The building, with its futuristic architecture, is full of surprises, and there are specially adapted tours for adults and children alike.

You can buy your ticket directly online to save time, or on the spot when you arrive.

1 – Ticket for permanent exhibition + Belvedere tasting session

This ticket allows you to discover 3,000 m2 of interactive exhibition accompanied by an audioguide offering 2 tours: 1 for adults and 1 for children. You can enjoy a glass of wine or grape juice on the 8th floor at the Belvedere, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Bordeaux from a height of 35 metres.

Opening times

From 30 August 2021 to 31 December 2021

The museum is open 7 days a week:

  • Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • From 10 am to 7 pm at weekends and during school holidays.

From 1 January 2022 to 1 April 2022

The museum is open every day of the week from 10 am to 6 pm. It will be closed on Mondays in January.

Good to know

  • The museum’s occupancy rate in real time and during the day can be checked on the Affluences website or using its application.
  • Pets are not allowed, except for guide or assistance dogs.
  • There is a locker available for visitors. Luggage must be at least 90 cm high, 40 cm wide and 52 cm deep.

Transport

1 – Tramway

Tram line B, “la Cité du Vin” stop, takes you to the museum in 2 minutes on foot.

2 – Bus

3 bus routes take you to the Cité du Vin:

4 – Cars

Pay car parks only

  • Interparking opposite the museum, rue de Gironde, from 7am to 10pm, fixed rate €5 for 5 hours’ use, or according to parking time.
  • Quai de Bacalan, hangar 19.

Parking for people with reduced mobility

The car park at the entrance to the museum is open from 9.30am to 8pm. Outside these opening hours, the security control centre can be contacted on 05 56 04 96 54.

What awaits you on your permanent tour?

There are 20 themed, interactive areas devoted to the history, geography, geology, arts and oenology of the world. The average visit takes 2 to 3 hours, but you can also devote a whole day to the museum if you have the time. For those in a hurry, a 1-hour themed tour is available.

The history of vines and wine through time, all over the world, according to climate.

30 winegrowers talk passionately about their profession via interactive tables: their land, their environment, their wines…

4 – In the vineyards

This interactive workshop will give you a better understanding of vine-growing and the difficulties it entails in different global environments, the techniques used…

5 – Making the wine

Vinification, maturing, ageing – discover all the stages involved in making wine.

6 – Six wine families

Sparkling wines, fruity wines, everyday wines… 6 giant bottles will help you discover all the subtleties of wine through olfactory, audio and visual journeys.
