Cité des sciences Paris

The Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris is a unique place full of surprises, nestling in the heart of a huge landscaped park. Whether you’re with friends or family, this is the ideal place to try out some out-of-the-ordinary experiments and discover science in a fun way! With its planetarium, children’s centre, temporary and permanent exhibitions, lectures, events and workshops, there’s plenty to do at the Cité des Sciences de Paris to learn more about science and have fun at the same time.

The Planetarium

The projection system installed at the Cité des Sciences planetarium in Paris is in High Definition with 8K laser projection. The twenty or so video projectors are computer-assisted, so you can enjoy an image with 8,000 pixels. A system 8 times more accurate than the HD screens on today’s televisions. You’ll really feel like you’re there!

Entertainment

Activities and shows for all ages presented by engineers, artists and scientific mediators. Some activities can be observed while others require audience participation… Games, experiments, discoveries…

The Biolab is a place for sharing ideas and experimenting on subjects such as biology and the environment. This is what is known as participatory science, where members of the public are encouraged to think, observe and take part in collective projects…

Children’s city

The Children’s City is divided into 2 parts, so that the activities can be adapted to suit the children’s interests.

La Cité des enfants 2-7 years

5 themes are proposed: I’m discovering myself, I know what to do, I’m finding my bearings, I’m experimenting, All together (experimenting with other children). Pictograms guide accompanying adults to play, encourage or observe the behaviour of very young children.

La Cité des enfants 5 – 12 years

A range of games and activities specially designed for children in this age group, divided into 6 themes: The Body, Communicating, The TV Studio, Water Games, The Garden and The Factory. Presenting a TV programme, taking part in a video trick, making energy, observing animals, plants and the seasons are just some of the tasks that children aged 5 to 12 can undertake in this dedicated area. The games don’t require any adult supervision, so children can have fun taking the initiative themselves and turning themselves into real little scientists!

The baby city lab

The Cité des bébés Lab is reserved exclusively for babies from birth to under 2 years of age, accompanied by an adult. It is open from 10am to 12pm, subject to availability. Families will be able to take part in a range of activities designed to promote babies’ cognitive and psychomotor development, as well as storytelling and dramatised readings. Information workshops on early childhood are regularly organised.

Permanent exhibitions

The Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie has a number of permanent exhibitions on the following themes:

  • Bio-inspired, an exhibition on the ecosystems found on the planet, the organisms of the living world and their ability to adapt.
