This is the perfect time to show off your bargaining skills! As we all know, Morocco is a country where you constantly have to bargain over the price of goods, and even more so when you’re a visitor: the locals tend to raise prices for travellers.
With that in mind, grab your calculator and see how much you’re prepared to spend on your souvenirs! Here, you’re in the heart of the souks of the Medina where in addition to finding incredibly colourful streets, you’ll come across numerous authentic items to take back home in your suitcases! So keep your eyes peeled, compare and bargain – you’re spoilt for choice!
The Marrakech souks are over 800 years old and was initially used to provide food for the local population, who collected their produce from the trans-Saharan camel caravans. Nowadays, more than 40,000 craftsmen display their wares in the Marrakech souks, where locals still come to buy their wares while tourists stroll around to discover the handicrafts on offer.
From leather to moroccan slippers, carpets and jewellery, there are thousands of souvenirs on offer in the souks! Be sure to have your dirhams at hand!
