Welcome to the Dar Si Saïd Museum, or Museum of Moroccan Arts. The museum is housed in the former residence of Si Saïd, minister of war and brother of a grand vizier, and displays the largest collection of furniture, weapons, musical instruments and other objects from everyday life in Marrakech.
In this 19th-century building, with its two floors and interior courtyards, you will find many objects made of wood, a material widely used in Moroccan decorative arts.
It was not until 1932 that it began to house pottery, jewellery, ceramics and fabrics that bear witness to the history of Moroccan craftsmanship, all displayed in a magnificent setting that alone is definitely worth a visit.
It’s the oldest museum in Marrakech, so don’t hesitate to pay a visit if you want to discover local craftsmanship!
